Grace Kelly's wedding pictures

Grace Kelly's wedding was one of the most highly anticipated events of the 1950s. The movie star had captured the hearts of Americans everywhere and her upcoming nuptials to Monaco's Prince Rainier III was big news. On April 18, 1956, more than 30 million people tuned in to watch as Kelly exchanged vows with the prince in a fairy-tale ceremony.

The bride wore an exquisite gown designed by MGM costume designer Helen Rose. The dress was made of ivory silk taffeta and featured a 12-foot train and a delicate lace veil. Kelly topped off her look with a diamond tiara loaned to her by Rainier.

Despite the elaborate preparations, the wedding itself was quite simple. There were no bridesmaids or groomsmen, and the only music played was "Ave Maria.
